Its got a lot of good information. The only thing I didn't like are the pictures. Most of them are back and white and not very interesting to look at. The middle of the book has a section of glossy color prints, but that doesn't make up for the rest of the book.
I first had this book for my evolution of fashion class in college. I was so broke at the time and resold the book back to the bookstore for only $50. I was sooo dumb! This book is great, even if you're just fascinated by fashion and not a fashion student. It thoroughly explains, in perfect detail, about the transitions between eras. It's amazing to read how a lot of designers got their start and what the world was like when they did, how inspired they must have been. I can not rave enough about it. :)
I needed the new version of this book for a class but this one is just as good to me since history doesn't change that much. And the book was in excellent condition.
I have to buy this book cuz it's required for my class, history of costume. It actually has interesting information on early people dresses and the accesory and more.
