I purchased this book because I have recently been bitten by the vintage jewelry bug and I wanted a guide to help me identify the good stuff. I kept seeing references to Julia Carroll books when a piece was identified, so I thought I needed this to assist me in being able to find the best pieces for my money. We all want to make wise purchases and that is easier to do if we are informed. I love all the color photographs and the helpful notes by each. I think my first vintage jewelry book will be a good one! Looking forward to getting her 101 and 202 books.
Julia writes informative, interesting books and this is no exception. So happy to see a book about the verso side of jewelry. All her books, including this one, are full of colorful photos, ideas of value (realistically based on eBay prices, for the most part), and offer lots history and enlightenment on different makers. I contacted her via e-mail regarding a couple of questions to which I could find no answers, and she replied within a few hours. What a great lady! Look forward to the second edition of here 202 book.
Very good read with lots of useful information... I highly recommend it

This book rounds out the three books that Ms Carroll has produced - quite nicely! Love the pictues and all the detail about signed jewelry artists! True collector must own all three books! Best of all the vintage costume jewelry books! Now - come out with them in an app for taking with me when jewelry hunting! These books are too heavy!!! But I consider them a valuable resource!
Great book for research Vintage Jewley. A must have for any collector/resellar!!!
