I love all Ribeiro's books----she knows what she's talking about and writes exceptionally well,so her books are as readable as novels without losing credibility. They are also loaded with color plates of artworks that illustrate the styles in question. This is probably the plainest book in her oeuvre but I was still very gald to have a chance to own it. It's hard to find her books at what I consider a good price so I was excited to get this one for less than $20. If you enjoy:Beautiful clothing;how styles evolve;art and cultural history that's accessible but exceedingly informative,you owe it to yourself to read Ribeiro's books. If they aren't at your library,ask to have them retrieved for you using ILL. I promise you will be glad you did.
